Ten Knots Group’s training programs equip and empower staff as a steward of the environment, in addition to their jobs within the organization. With each Be G.R.E.E.N. module, each employee is aware of his/her role in how their actions and decisions can influence the health of Palawan’s Biodiversity every day. They gain a sense of environmental and social responsibility, as well as pride in the work that they do, which translates to increased productivity and, thus, better service for guests.
Marine Sports Guides and guest-facing staff also deepen their appreciation and understanding of El Nido’s biodiversity through Nature Interpretation, engaging in meaningful conversation and science-backed storytelling with guests and visitors. While at the resorts and during island hopping tours, they are able to describe the natural ecosystems, challenges to biodiversity conservation, and identify marine and terrestrial wildlife along the way. This gives a more intentional and immersive experience for guests to learn and understand the natural environment they are visiting.
Ten Knots Group has partnered with various academic institutions, government agencies, and NGOs to ensure best practices for sustainability, nature-based activities, and tourism are aligned and supported with research. Marine and terrestrial biodiversity experts have also been tapped as resource speakers for environmental celebration events and as a key trainer for our staff during their Nature Interpretation Course. To further share these activities, Ten Knots’ Sustainability Team has put together guidebooks that serve as references for staff and guests on the biodiversity and wildlife encountered in and around El Nido.
